Year: 2023 | Client: FIA Foundation (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) | Country: Latin America (regional)
Cities Forum designed and facilitated a regional series of seminars for the FIA Foundation on climate action and sustainable mobility in Latin America, reaching participants across Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Ecuador. The programme targeted public officials, corporate sustainability teams and transport-sector specialists, and was built to combine credible knowledge transfer with hands-on methodological tools that participants could apply immediately in their own institutions.
Our approach
Each seminar followed a deliberate two-day arc. Day one focused on climate-action frameworks and carbon-accounting methodologies, situating national commitments under the Paris Agreement alongside corporate carbon management and sector-specific emission-reduction strategies. Day two turned to sustainable urban mobility, covering last-mile delivery solutions, electric-vehicle adoption across passenger and freight fleets, active mobility and cycling infrastructure, and gender-inclusive transport design. This structure connected the "why" of climate ambition with the "how" of practical mobility measures, so that participants left with both strategic framing and operational technique.
What we delivered
Cities Forum produced the full pedagogical package: training materials, case-study decks drawing on Ecuadorian and Chilean electromobility programmes, and hands-on exercises using carbon-footprint calculators tailored to the transport sector. The seminars were designed to be participatory rather than lecture-based, featuring guest contributions from local mobility champions, peer-to-peer exchange between countries, and action-learning plans that translated new knowledge into concrete initiatives participants committed to advance. Deliverables included session content, facilitation guides, participant materials, evaluation reports and policy briefs capturing regional insights.
Impact
The programme supported corporate and government commitments aligned with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and reinforced regional climate ambition in line with Latin American NDCs and the COP process, contributing directly to the FIA Foundation's mission of safe, clean, fair and green transport for all. By working simultaneously across six countries, Cities Forum helped build a shared regional language around transport decarbonisation and a network of practitioners equipped to act on it, extending the firm's Latin American footprint and its reputation for capacity-building that changes practice, not just awareness.
