Cities Forum co-organised the 2019 Smart Mobility Cities Summit in Aguascalientes, Mexico, bringing an international sustainable-mobility conference to a dynamic Mexican city. The summit formed part of the "Smart Mobility Summit" series that Cities Forum developed to replicate, nationally and internationally, a successful Spanish event model, with Cities Forum leading the editions held outside Spain and building local partnerships to root each event in its host city.
Our approach
Delivered through a collaboration agreement with Adigital and with local partner Kradac, an Aguascalientes technology firm, the summit was structured as a one-to-two-day conference combining keynotes, discussion panels, an exhibition zone, start-up contests and business matchmaking. Its programme spanned the full sustainable-mobility agenda, shared mobility, electric mobility, autonomous driving, micromobility, smart fleet management, Mobility-as-a-Service and the public policy needed to support them, connecting public authorities, operators, technology providers and innovators around the future of urban transport in Mexico and the wider region.
What we delivered
Cities Forum's role encompassed the design and delivery of the event and the mobilisation of its international network of speakers and partners, secured through sponsorship arrangements with local and regional players. The summit gave Aguascalientes a platform to position itself within the smart-mobility conversation, exposed local stakeholders to international expertise and solutions, and created matchmaking opportunities between demand and supply, while extending the Smart Mobility Summit brand into Latin America.
Impact
For Cities Forum, the Aguascalientes summit exemplifies its capacity to conceive and run high-quality international mobility events that combine knowledge exchange, networking and business development. It strengthened the firm's presence and relationships in Mexico and reinforced a distinctive strand of its work: convening the diverse actors of the mobility ecosystem, cities, industry, start-ups and policymakers, in formats that turn conversation into concrete connections and momentum for sustainable mobility.
